Following a week in which they beat two top ten ranked teams, the Kirkwood men's basketball team was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team of the Week for their NJCAA division for games played Jan. 8-14, as released by the association today.
Per the NABC:
Kirkwood, the 2015 NJCAA Division II national champions, won two games last week against top-10 opponents. Kirkwood first defeated No. 2 Lincoln College 71-55 on Wednesday before traveling to Iowa Central Community College on Saturday and knocking off the seventh-ranked Tritons, 84-62. The Eagles are 11-4 overall, 1-0 in conference play and on the cusp of jumping into the NJCAA Division II rankings.
The NABC, located in Kansas City, Mo., was founded in 1927 by Forrest "Phog" Allen, the legendary University of Kansas basketball coach. Since its beginning, the NABC has continually worked to further the best interests of the game of basketball as well as the players and coaches who participate in the sport.
