Ben Jones begins his 1st season as assistant coach of Kirkwood Golf
Since he first picked up a golf club, golf has been the center point of Ben’s life. During his junior days, Ben was very successful at Club and County level winning Club Championships and Open competitions all across the country. With English high schools not offering golf, Ben attended a specialized golf program after he graduated high school at 16 so that he could have 2 years to really focus on the sport. In this time he was able to play against some of the best in the country, learn and also compile victories of his own.
After getting in touch with Kirkwood Ben made the bold decision to move from his home and family in the UK and come to America. He played for the team and Coach Pint from 2013-2015. As a freshman, he helped the team towards winning several events during the year whilst clocking in some good individual finishes and top 10s as well. Sophomore year also had its highlights as the team won many regular season events and most importantly gaining a regional tournament victory, qualifying for the NJCAA National Tournament.
After Kirkwood, he then transferred to Mount Mercy University (NAIA). During this time he had several individual top 10 finishes, 6 team victories and 1 Individual medalist prize shooting 67 at The Preserve Golf Club.
Ben graduated in 2018 from Mount Mercy with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
This is Bens 5th year in the United States and Cedar Rapids, and he has aspirations to make a permanent move to the US.
