CRESTON - The Kirkwood softball team enjoyed a field day against Southwestern Community College Monday with 35 runs, 40 hits and three home runs. The fourth-ranked Eagles swept the ICCAC twin bill, 14-4 in five innings and 21-4 in six innings.
Kirkwood raised its records to 21-6 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Southwestern, which did not field a team last year due to a lack of players, fell to 2-15 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Erin Hocker (10-4) pitched four innings in the opener for the triumph.
Hulsebus went 6-for-6 in the leadoff spot in the 21-4 romp in the nightcap. She scored four times, had three stolen bases, collected two doubles and drove in two runs.
Taleah Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, seven RBIs and three runs. Courtney Harris was 4-for-5 and scored four times. Jayme Finn was 3-for-6 and scored twice. Stewart was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Carter was 2-for-5 and scored twice.
Bradee Bouman (10-2) pitched five innings for the victory.
