Kirkwood Eagles Close Fall Season with Victory at the Eagle Fall Classic

Amana, IA- The Kirkwood Community College men's golf team capped off an outstanding fall season in championship fashion, winning the Eagles Fall Classic at Amana Colonies Golf Club in Amana, Iowa. Facing a competitive 11-team field that featured top NAIA programs such as Northwestern (IA), Clarke University, and Mount Mercy, along with several strong junior college squads, the Eagles rose to the challenge to claim first place with a two-round team score of +9.

Team Performance

Kirkwood opened the tournament with a solid first-round score of +5, then tightened up on Day 2 with an impressive +4 performance under tough, rainy conditions. Their consistency across both rounds separated them from the rest of the field and secured the team title. The Kirkwood (B) team also showed depth within the program, finishing 5th overall in the 11-team field—an impressive feat given the quality of competition.

Individual Highlights

Leading the way for the Eagles was Reid Hall, who captured his first individual collegiate victory with a two-day total of -2 overall after rounds of 70 and 72. Hall's performance was highlighted by an incredible 31 (-5) on the back nine in the opening round, a stretch that propelled him to the top of the leaderboard early and set the tone for the rest of the event. His poised play and clutch birdies across both rounds helped secure both his personal milestone and Kirkwood's team victory.

Ted Sargeant joined him near the top of the leaderboard, finishing tied for second at even par after posting rounds of 72 and 72. His consistency across both days proved crucial in keeping Kirkwood in control of the tournament from start to finish.

Tanner Wachtl paced the way for the Kirkwood (B) team, shooting a +1 over the two rounds to finish tied for fourth overall in the tournament. His play was highlighted by a -2 under final round, which helped the B squad secure an impressive fifth-place team finish in a loaded field.

Isaiah Zoske delivered another strong showing, finishing tied for sixth at +2, while Dean Roberts shot a combined +13, and Ryan Lynch finished at +14 to round out the scoring for the Eagles. The team's balanced effort and ability to manage challenging conditions underscored their poise and preparation.

Looking Ahead

This victory punctuates a highly successful fall campaign for the Kirkwood men's golf program, marked by multiple wins and strong individual performances. The Eagles will now turn their attention to the spring season, where they'll aim to build on their fall momentum and make another run at a national championship.
