Eagles Battle to Podium Finish at Park University Invitational
PARKVILLE, MO- The Kirkwood Eagles continued their strong spring campaign with a third-place finish at the Park University Invitational, held April 6–7 at The National Golf Course of Kansas City in Parkville, Missouri. Competing against a nine-team field, the Eagles posted a three-round total of +26 (866), finishing just three shots shy of second place and 21 strokes behind tournament champion William Woods.
Leading the charge once again was freshman standout Ted Sargeant, who delivered another elite performance to pace the Eagles for the second consecutive tournament. Sargeant finished third overall at -2 (208), highlighted by a tournament-best opening round 65 (-5)—the lowest round recorded by any player in the field. His first round featured a clean, controlled card with multiple birdies, including key gains on par-4s and a steady closing stretch that set the tone for his week. He added rounds of 71 and 72 to secure his top-three finish.
Dean Roberts turned in another strong showing, tying for ninth at +7 (217). Roberts was especially sharp in round two, firing a 67 (-3)—one of the best rounds of the tournament. His round included multiple birdies on the front nine and a composed back nine that featured an eagle on 18 to cap the day. Across the event, Roberts consistently limited damage and capitalized on scoring opportunities, particularly on the par-5s.
Ryan Lynch, as an individual player, finished tied for 13th at +9 (219), putting together a steady tournament that included a 72 in the final round. Lynch showed resilience throughout, bouncing back from early bogeys with timely birdies—especially in round two where he picked up strokes on three separate holes to stay in contention.
Isaiah Zoske tied for 15th at +11 (221), highlighted by a 73 in round one and a consistent approach across all three rounds. Zoske found success on shorter par-4s, converting multiple birdie chances while keeping big numbers off the card late in rounds.
Competing as an individual, Jack Gomez placed 18th at +12 (222). Gomez opened strong with a 71 (-1) in round one, featuring birdies on holes 2, 7, and 8. He continued to battle throughout the tournament, showing flashes of scoring ability across all three rounds.
Chase Jahde finished tied for 23rd at +14 (224), with his best stretch coming on the back nine of round three where he played under par, highlighted by birdies on holes 15 and 18.
Reid Hall rounded out the lineup, finishing tied for 43rd at +28 (238). Hall showed improvement in round two with a 72 (+2), including a strong closing stretch that featured birdies on holes 11 and 15.
As a team, Kirkwood showed balance and depth throughout the event. Their round one score of 284 (+4) kept them firmly in contention early, and a steady 286 (+6) in round two maintained their position near the top of the leaderboard. Despite a tougher final round (296, +16), the Eagles held on for a podium finish against a competitive field.
