Lynch Battles in Playoff as Eagles Secure Runner-Up Finish at Southwestern Premier

PANORA, IA- The #4 Kirkwood Eagles Golf Team put together a strong two-day performance at the Southwestern Premier, finishing 2nd out of 13 teams at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora, Iowa.

Kirkwood opened with a 299 in round one and followed with a 305 to finish at +28 (604), securing runner-up honors behind Iowa Western CC. The Eagles created separation from the rest of the field, edging third-place Northeast CC (NE) by three strokes.

Ryan Lynch led the way for Kirkwood, tying for 1st place at +3 (147) after rounds of 73 and 74. Lynch's tournament featured key birdies down the stretch, including a strong back nine in round two where he played several holes under par to stay in contention. He found himself in a three-man playoff and extended it to a second hole before coming up just short in a head-to-head finish.

Ted Sargeant delivered a solid performance, finishing tied for 5th at +5 (149). After carding a 76 in round one, Sargeant bounced back with a 73 in round two. His final round included multiple birdies, highlighted by a clean stretch on the front nine where he avoided bogeys and kept momentum rolling before trading a few bogeys and pars coming in.

Isaiah Zoske tied for 11th at +7 (151) with rounds of 76 and 75. Zoske's scorecard showed a mix of steady pars with timely birdies, including a bounce-back birdie after a mid-round bogey in round two that helped him maintain position on the leaderboard.

Jack Gomez also tied for 11th at +7 (151), shooting 75 and 76. Gomez mixed in several birdies across both rounds but battled a handful of bogeys on the back nine each day. His ability to respond with pars and limit bigger numbers kept his rounds in a competitive range.

Dean Roberts finished tied for 15th at +8 (152), highlighted by an even-par 72 in round one. Roberts' opening round included multiple birdies and consistent ball striking, with a steady front nine that kept him near the top of the leaderboard early. In round two, a few double bogeys and late bogeys pushed his score higher, but his first-round performance proved valuable for the team score.

Reid Hall added depth for the Eagles, finishing tied for 20th at +9 (153) with rounds of 75 and 78. Hall's tournament included stretches of strong play, including birdies mixed with steady pars, though a few late-round bogeys in round two added strokes.
