Eagles Open Season with Balanced Attack in Win Over Snappers
Cedar Rapids, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles opened their season in dominant fashion, showcasing balance and depth as six players scored in double figures in the win over the Snappers. Sophomore Richard Lindsey Jr. and freshman Manasse Kasongo led the charge with 17 points apiece, while sophomore Chris Coleman and freshman Cole Marsh each added 14 points. Sophomore Ben Bockman provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, and sophomore Tyler Netolicky recorded his first double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and 13 rebounds to round out the double-digit contributors.
The Eagles shared the ball exceptionally well, racking up 25 assists as every player on the roster scored. Freshman Yaris Irby led the way with 8 assists off the bench, setting the tone for the team's unselfish play.
Kirkwood was efficient offensively, connecting on 52.9% of their field goal attempts and an impressive 50% from beyond the arc. On the glass, the Eagles dominated the boards with a +18 rebound margin (47–29).
The Eagles will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup as they host Grand View JV tonight at 6 p.m. in Johnson Hall.
