#4 Kirkwood Takes Down Southeastern in 3 Sets

West Burlington, IA – October 8, 2025 — The #4-ranked Kirkwood Eagles Volleyball Team continued their dominant conference run on Wednesday night, sweeping the Southeastern Blackhawks in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-19) to improve to 8-0 in ICCAC play.

Balanced Offense and Precision Setting

The Eagles showcased another efficient offensive performance, hitting .304 as a team while distributing the ball effectively across the lineup. Setter Avery Knoop orchestrated the attack with 17 assists and added two service aces and four digs, while fellow setter Natalee Hartman contributed six assists, an ace, and six digs to keep the offense flowing.

Leading the scoring charge was Carly Wazac, who recorded 11 kills on a .333 hitting percentage and added three block assists for a team-best 12.5 pointsKaci Johnson also notched 11 kills at a .409 clip, matching Wazac's offensive efficiency while tallying nine digs and 17 assists in a standout all-around effort.

Depth and Defense Shine

The Eagles' balanced attack featured additional offensive sparks from Josie Bryan with seven kills and three aces, and Madalyn Boyer, who was nearly flawless with six kills on nine swings (.667) and a team-high five block assistsMarissa Cahoy added six kills of her own, while Emily Naughton chipped in four kills and a block assist, rounding out a deep front-line effort that kept Southeastern off balance all evening.

Defensively, the team combined for 12 total blocks and 40 digs, smothering Southeastern's offense and never allowing the Blackhawks to find rhythm at the net.

With the win, Kirkwood remains unbeaten in conference play at 8-0 and continues to look like a national title contender. Next, the Eagles will hit the road again — this time to Normal, Illinois, where they'll face the #1-ranked Cowley Tigers and #2-ranked Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils on the campus of Heartland Community College in one of their toughest weekends of the season.
