Kirkwood Volleyball Sweeps Hawkeye in ICCAC Road Test

Waterloo, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles continued their strong start to ICCAC play with a dominant sweep over Hawkeye Community College on Tuesday night in Waterloo. The Eagles controlled the match from the opening serve, taking the sets 25–18, 25–18, and 25–20 to move to 2–0 in conference play.

Offensive Efficiency Leads the Way

Kirkwood's attack was balanced and efficient, posting a .312 hitting percentage across three sets. Freshman Josie Bryanpowered the offense with 13 kills on just 22 swings, hitting an impressive .545 while adding 13 points overall. She was complemented by Carly Wazac, who was nearly unstoppable with 8 kills on 13 attempts (.615).

Setter Avery Knoop kept the attack in rhythm, dishing out 19 assists while also contributing 5 digs and an ace. Kaci Johnson showcased her versatility with 9 kills, 17 assists, and 7 digs, giving Kirkwood a crucial all-around performance.

Contributions Across the Court

The Eagles' depth was on display as multiple players impacted the match. Sydney Brandmeyer added 8 kills and a team-high 4 block assists, while Chloe Baez chipped in 2 kills and solid defensive work at the net. Defensive specialist Natalee Hartman anchored the back row with 10 digs, helping limit Hawkeye's scoring opportunities.
