#2 Eagles Roll Past #14 Parkland, 79–51, Inside Johnson Hall
Cedar Rapids, IA- The #2 Kirkwood women's basketball team delivered another emphatic statement last Wednesday night, overpowering the #14 Parkland Cobras 79–51 in front of a charged Johnson Hall crowd. After an evenly matched first quarter, the Eagles tightened the screws defensively and dominated the middle frames to seize complete control.
Both teams traded baskets early, finishing the opening period tied at 21–21. From there, Kirkwood unleashed a 17–6 second-quarter surge, then blew the game open with a 25-13 advantage in the third. The Eagles shot a blistering 56.6% from the field for the game and held Parkland to just 31%, showcasing balanced scoring, pressure defense, and relentless ball movement.
Balanced Firepower and Efficient Offense
Sophomore guard Olivia Wren continued her terrific start to the season, pouring in a game-high 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including two threes. She was steady on both ends and set the tone offensively.
Freshman forward Madison Stowater provided a major spark off the bench, knocking down three triples on her way to 14 points in just 14 minutes. Her perimeter shooting helped break the game open midway through the second half.
Kirkwood's interior presence was equally strong.

Erianna Moeschter delivered a perfect shooting night (5-for-5) to finish with 10 points.

Dasia Foster added 9 points, converting all four of her field-goal attempts.
The Eagles' ball movement was exceptional—18 team assists—with Aaliyah Riley handing out six, and Wren chipping in another. Kirkwood also dominated the glass 41–21, spearheaded by Kennedy Blakely's 11-rebound performance.
Defensive Control
Kirkwood's defensive effort suffocated a Parkland team that entered the night 5-1 and ranked #14 nationally. After giving up 21 early points, the Eagles held the Cobras to only 30 points over the final three quarters, including a six-point second period where Parkland went scoreless from the field.
The Eagles pulled in 31 defensive rebounds, limited Parkland to four made threes, and forced 15 turnovers—turning several of them into quick scoring opportunities.
Next Up
The Eagles now shift their attention to ICCAC play, opening conference action at home on Tuesday, November 25 at 5:30 PM against Ellsworth. Riding a 4-0 start and coming off one of their most complete performances of the season, Kirkwood will look to keep its momentum rolling as league play begins.
