Eagles Unleash Offensive Onslaught in 22-3 Rout of Northeast Iowa

PEOSTA, IA- The #3 Kirkwood Eagles Baseball team delivered one of their most dominant performances of the season on Wednesday afternoon, overwhelming the Northeast Iowa Cougars 22-3 in seven innings.

From the opening inning, the Eagles' offense set the tone—and never let up.

Kirkwood plated runs in five of the seven innings, including back-to-back offensive explosions with six runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. By the time the dust settled, the Eagles had racked up 22 runs on 19 hits, showcasing a relentless approach at the plate.

Leading the charge was Brady Blake, who turned in a monster performance. The Eagles' shortstop went 3-for-3, scored five runs, and drove in five RBIs, while launching two home runs to pace the offensive barrage.

He wasn't alone.

Wrigley Matthys ignited the offense at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored, two RBIs, a home run, and two stolen bases. Jax Theeler added another long ball and finished with four runs scored and two RBIs, while Ty Andrews delivered a 3-hit day with three RBIs of his own.

In total, the Eagles blasted eight home runs in the game, coming from Matthys, Blake (2), Theeler, Landon Frost, Andrews, Will Nuss, and Adam Kayko—an emphatic display of power that kept the Cougars' pitching staff on its heels all afternoon.

Kirkwood's discipline at the plate was just as impressive. The Eagles drew 13 walks and struck out 13 times, consistently creating traffic on the bases and capitalizing with timely extra-base hits.

On the mound, Adrian Broadus delivered a strong start, going six innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits. He struck out 10 batters and limited the Cougars' offense from gaining any momentum. Cael Ortmann closed out the game with a strikeout-heavy inning, combining with Broadus for 13 total strikeouts on the day.

The Eagles' pitching staff held Northeast Iowa to just three hits across seven innings, complementing an offensive performance that left no doubt from start to finish.
