#1 Kirkwood Rolls Behind Relentless Offense in Sunday Sweep

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA- The #1 Kirkwood Eagles handled Iowa Lakes with ease on Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader 14-3 and 11-2 at home.

Game 1 quickly turned into an offensive showcase, as Kirkwood methodically built pressure before breaking things open with a six-run third inning. The Eagles totaled nine hits and drew nine walks, consistently forcing Iowa Lakes pitchers into difficult spots.

Reese Stockman delivered one of the biggest swings of the game, launching a home run and driving in three runs, while Taylor Dieterich and Jessa DeMoss each added long balls of their own. DeMoss matched Stockman with three RBIs, and Mischa Reiners chipped in two, highlighting the depth of a lineup that produced runs up and down the order.

In the circle, Libby Trewin set the tone early, striking out five and allowing just one hit over 3.1 scoreless innings to earn her 21st win of the season. The Eagles' pitching staff limited Iowa Lakes to just three hits in the game, keeping momentum firmly in Kirkwood's dugout.

The second game followed a similar script, though with a slightly quicker pace. Kirkwood jumped ahead early once again, scoring in each of the first four innings and finishing with 11 runs on 11 hits. This time, it was Savannah Caves who delivered the standout performance, crushing a home run and driving in four runs to lead the offense.

Shannon Finn and Kinsley Theobald set the table at the top of the lineup, combining for four hits and multiple RBIs, while Reese Stockman and Taylor Dieterich continued their strong days at the plate with run-producing swings of their own. The Eagles' ability to string together quality at-bats kept Iowa Lakes on its heels from start to finish.

Carley Cavanagh handled the pitching duties in Game 2, tossing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts to improve to 15-0 on the season. The Eagles once again controlled the game in the circle, limiting Iowa Lakes to just two runs and maintaining command throughout.
