Eagles Sweep Mississippi Road Trip
Raymond, MS- The #10 Kirkwood Eagles Softball team made the most of their southern swing this past weekend, traveling to Mississippi and rolling to six straight victories over Hinds CC, Meridian CC, and Holmes CC. Kirkwood completed two-game series sweeps against each opponent, showcasing explosive offense, dominant pitching, and timely performances across the lineup. With the perfect weekend, the Eagles now sit at 8-4 on the season.
Game 1 – Kirkwood 12, Hinds CC 5
Kirkwood opened the trip with a 12-5 win over Hinds behind patience at the plate and balanced production throughout the order.
Macie Fisher sparked the offense, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, while drawing two walks. Mischa Reiners added two hits and two RBIs, and Reese Stockman drove in two more. Shannon Finn reached base four times and chipped in an RBI.
In the circle, Libby Trewin tossed 7.0 innings to earn the win, allowing five runs while working through traffic and keeping the game under control. The Eagles plated runs in five different innings, including a four-run first that immediately set the tone.
Game 2 – Kirkwood 14, Hinds CC 4
The Eagles completed the sweep of Hinds with a 14-4 offensive explosion.
Breckin De La Rosa powered the lineup with a home run and three RBIs, while Reese Stockman also went deep. Shannon Finn drove in three runs, and Taylor Dieterich added two RBIs and a double. Kirkwood scored eight runs in the third inning to break the game open.
Ada Wood earned the win in the circle, striking out three over 4.0 innings of work, while Jessa DeMoss closed it out. The Eagles showed discipline again, drawing 12 walks in the victory.
Game 3 – Kirkwood 7, Meridian CC 1
Against Meridian, Kirkwood combined power and pitching in a 7-1 win.
Shannon Finn homered and drove in two runs as part of a three-hit day. Mischa Reiners added a triple and two RBIs, while Taylor Dieterich also left the yard and drove in two. The Eagles tallied 13 hits in the contest.
Libby Trewin was dominant in the circle, striking out nine over 6.0 innings and allowing just one run. Kirkwood pulled away with a five-run fourth inning to seize control.
Game 4 – Kirkwood 11, Meridian CC 8
The second matchup with Meridian turned into a back-and-forth battle, but Kirkwood's offense proved too much in an 11-8 victory.
Mischa Reiners delivered three RBIs, while Breckin De La Rosa and Addison Ohda each drove in three runs as well. Ohda homered and collected three hits, and Sophie Link added three hits and an RBI. The Eagles erupted for six runs in the seventh inning to secure the sweep.
Jessa DeMoss earned the win in relief, and Carley Cavanagh picked up the save to shut the door.
Game 5 – Kirkwood 13, Holmes CC 1
Kirkwood continued its dominance against Holmes, cruising to a 13-1 win.
Addison Ohda had a monster performance, going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Breckin De La Rosa added two hits and two RBIs, while Shannon Finn drove in two. Sophie Link scored three runs as the Eagles capitalized on defensive miscues and timely extra-base hits.
Libby Trewin struck out six over 3.0 scoreless innings to earn the win, and Jessa DeMoss closed out the five-inning effort.
Game 6 – Kirkwood 9, Holmes CC 1
The Eagles finished the weekend with a 9-1 victory to complete the six-game sweep.
Shannon Finn led the way with two doubles and two RBIs. Addison Ohda knocked in three runs, while Breckin De La Rosa collected two hits and an RBI. Savannah Caves drew three walks and added an RBI, as Kirkwood once again showed patience and execution at the plate.
Ada Wood went the distance, allowing just two hits and one run over 5.0 innings to earn the win.
