#1 Eagles Leave No Doubt in Sweep of Central CC

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA- The #1-ranked Kirkwood Eagles Softball team showed exactly why they sit atop the NJCAA DII rankings on Monday afternoon, delivering a pair of dominant run-rule victories over Central CC at home in Cedar Rapids. The Eagles overwhelmed the Raiders in both games, winning 11-0 in each contest and continuing their impressive run.

Game 1: Eagles Explode for 16 Hits in 11-0 Rout

Kirkwood wasted no time asserting control in the opener, plating runs in four of the first five innings on their way to an 11-0 victory. The Eagles' offense was relentless, racking up 16 hits and showcasing depth from top to bottom in the lineup.

Camryn Johnson led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Alley Gorsh was equally impressive, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. Mischa Reiners added a three-run homer as part of a multi-hit day, while Shannon Finn set the tone at the top of the order with two runs scored and an RBI.

Ella Trenkamp and Taylor Dieterich each recorded two hits, and the Eagles continued to apply pressure on the basepaths with multiple stolen bases, keeping Central CC on its heels all game long.

In the circle, Carley Cavanagh was dominant, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out three to improve to 11-0 on the season. Jessa DeMoss closed things out with two shutout innings as the Eagles combined to allow just two hits in the game.

Game 2: Reiners Powers Eagles to Another Run-Rule Win

The second game followed a similar script, with Kirkwood jumping out early and never looking back in another 11-0 victory.

Mischa Reiners put together one of the most impressive performances of the day, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored. She was the catalyst for an offense that once again delivered in bunches.

Kinsley Theobald contributed across the board with a hit, two RBIs, two runs scored, and two stolen bases, while Breckin De La Rosa added two hits and two RBIs. Taylor Dieterich chipped in with a two-hit performance and an RBI, and Savannah Caves drove in two more runs to round out a balanced offensive attack.

The Eagles tallied 11 hits in the nightcap and continued to pressure Central CC defensively with aggressive baserunning, swiping multiple bases throughout the game.

In the circle, Ada Wood was in complete control, throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out five to earn the win.

Statement Performance from the Nation's #1 Team

Across both games, Kirkwood outscored Central CC 22-0 AND outhit them 27-4, and showcased dominance in every phase—offense, pitching, and defense.
