Eagles Explode for 26 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Northeast
WEST LIBERTY, IA- The #4 Kirkwood Eagles Softball team put together a dominant offensive display on Friday afternoon at West Liberty High School, sweeping the Northeast Hawks in a doubleheader by scores of 13-4 and 13-5. Both games were shortened due to run rule, with the Eagles ending the first in five innings and the second in six.
Game 1: Big Innings Fuel Run-Rule Victory
After falling behind early, the Eagles responded in emphatic fashion, erupting for six runs in the second inning and never looking back in a 13-4 win.
Kirkwood tallied 11 hits and capitalized on five walks, creating constant pressure on the Northeast defense. Ella Trenkamp led the offensive surge with two home runs and four RBIs, while Camryn Johnson added a home run and drove in two runs.
Breckin De La Rosa delivered a strong performance with two hits and two runs scored, and Reese Stockman reached base twice and scored twice. Alley Gorsh chipped in with a pair of RBIs, while Shannon Finn and Taylor Dietericheach crossed the plate twice.
On the basepaths, the Eagles were aggressive, racking up multiple stolen bases to keep the pressure on throughout the game.
In the circle, Libby Trewin earned the win, striking out seven over four innings while allowing just three runs. Ada Wood closed things out, helping secure the five-inning victory.
Game 2: Offensive Depth Continues to Shine
The Eagles carried their momentum into the second game, once again scoring early and often in a 13-5 victory.
Kirkwood plated runs in five of the six innings, highlighted by a four-run second and a three-run third inning. The balanced attack saw contributions across the lineup, with 10 hits and timely extra-base power.
Kinsley Theobald led the charge with a home run, double, and two RBIs, while Shannon Finn added a home run and two RBIs of her own. Mischa Reiners was a force in the middle of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including a double and triple.
Breckin De La Rosa continued her strong day with two RBIs, and Macie Fisher added a triple and drove in a run. Ella Trenkamp chipped in with two hits and an RBI as the Eagles once again showcased their depth.
In the circle, Carley Cavanagh earned the win with four solid innings, allowing four runs while working through traffic. Jessa DeMoss came on in relief and shut the door, allowing just one run over the final two innings.

The Eagles will look to keep their hot streak alive as they return home to take on Central CC this Monday in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 PM.
