No. 1 Eagles Roll Past Northeast Iowa in Road Wins
FARLEY, IA- The #1 Kirkwood Eagles Softball team continued its dominant season Wednesday, earning two wins on the road in Farley against Northeast Iowa CC by scores of 7-2 and 13-5.
Kirkwood jumped out early in Game 1, plating four runs in the opening inning and staying in control the rest of the way. The Eagles totaled nine hits and drew 10 walks in the win. Breckin De La Rosa led the offense with three hits, including a home run and two RBIs, while Alley Gorsh added a key three-RBI performance. Taylor Dieterich also homered and drove in a run.
In the circle, Libby Trewin was dominant, tossing a complete game while allowing just three hits and two runs. She struck out 13 Cougar hitters to anchor the win.
The Eagles carried that momentum into Game 2, breaking things open with a six-run second inning on their way to a 13-run performance. Kirkwood finished with 12 hits in the game.
Kinsley Theobald had a standout performance, scoring four runs and driving in three while adding a home run. De La Rosa stayed hot with four hits and four RBIs, while Shannon Finn and Mischa Reiners each added an RBI. Reese Stockman chipped in with a hit and RBI as well.
In the circle, Carley Cavanagh went six innings, allowing five runs—just one earned—while striking out 10. Ada Wood closed out the final inning to secure the win.
Next Up:
The Eagles will travel this weekend for two more ICCAC matchups, facing the Ellsworth Panthers in Iowa Falls on Saturday and the Iowa Central Tritons in Fort Dodge on Sunday. Both will be doubleheaders.
